When comparing a flavored beverage such as a soft drink, juice, sweat tea or alcohol to water, there’s a magnitude of unmatched purity. Water itself, in its purest form contains 2 primary ingredients, Hydrogen & Oxygen.
The same can’t be said for other beverages. Paul in Romans 8, likens this concept to the Law of the Spirit of God when compared to the flesh. Similar to water, the Spirit might not always be appealing, but there’s a level of purity & clarity that comes in Christ.
